Guest Design Team with Jamie Dougherty Bloom Girls using Free Spirit

I would like to thank Jamie for the opportunity to work with her awesome Bloom Girls! You can find their blog here. This was such a fun canvas to do. When Jamie sent me the Guest Design Team package… I knew that I wanted to use this Bloom Girl called Free Spirit and touch it with a bit of my Shawnee heritage. So I decided to use a quote from my 4th Great Grandfather Tecumseh in grey vinyl. On this canvas I traced the face on a separate piece of paper and cut it out then aliened the stencil up to the face and used Molding Paste and Gesso. Worked out really good….then I used watercolors on her face and then I used watercolors and Pan Pastels on her hair. If you look close to the face you can see that it looks like and Indian map from Finnabair’s paper collection. I let it set over night and then decorated it with Prima Flowers and embellishments. Hope you like my creation as much as I loved making this!!

You and Me Together Layout for My Creative Sketches Design Team

Today I have done a layout for My Creative Sketches and for a very dear friend of mine. I have known her since they brought her home from the hospital. I knew then that she would be my forever friend. This past 3 weeks has been one of the worst times in her life. After many years searching for her soulmate. She found him. Only to find out 3 weeks ago he has Stage 4 colon cancer and various other cancers. So I thought to myself there is something that I could do for her that she will have forever. I took my 3 favorite photos of her and her husband and showcased the love that they have for each other. Just remember to tell your loved ones how much you care about them....because tomorrow is never promised!! Thanks for letting me share my friends story and they will continue to fight this fight together!!

Here is my layout and I hope you enjoy it as much as I had creating it...

My Creative Sketches May Challenge

Here is My Creative Sketches Design Team project for May!! I have been cruising through all the Entries for April Challenge and I must say that they all are just awesome!! This month I decided since it was Mother’s Day and my mom’s Birthday what a wonderful way to celebrate her life and do a Through the years layout. I love seeing my mom when she was little and her being 80 years old this year was a celebration in itself. I am enjoying all the things my mom has taught me and all the laughs that just keep coming. Someday I will think back and laugh at some of the crazy things we have done. If you still have your mother….please be kind to her because you will never get another. I read something that has been etched in my brain is that a child is the only one that truly knows what their mother’s heart beat sounds like. And if you think about it this is the truest statement made. So with as much as I enjoyed making this layout…I will remember her beautiful face when I look at this layout.

Here is my layout

Been a bit Crazy around here.

I know it has been a bit since I have posted. I have been doing some projects for The Lupus Foundation. I have done some stuff to auction off and I thought I would share my creations with you. I have done 2 canvas with the Prima Marketing Julie Nutting Doll Stamps. I love working with these and using quotes. I love all things that lift you up instead of bringing you down. I also have dabbled into some vinyl cups. These little things are the most addictive. They are so fun and tedious to do. And the end results are awesome!! I used quotes from the Silhouette store for most of them. So, here are my creations. Hope you enjoy them as much as I enjoyed making them!!

Prima Journaling Page with Julie Nutting's Mindy Stamp

I just thought I would share with you my Prima Journaling page. I put a space under where you can pull out the tag. I wrote a note to my niece Taylor in hopes that maybe someday she will read it. I used The Prima Romantique and the Julie Nutting's Mindy stamp. Boy, was this a fun page to work on my texture technique using molding paste and the Prima Brick Stencil. I threw in some Lindy's Stamp Gang and my all time favorite color of Tim Holtz Distress Ink-Vintage Photo. I also used some Prima flowers that I have had in my stash and the Engraver buttons for the year Taylor was born. Need I say that they are just awesome!!! I will be using these in the new Prima Ambassador demo's and you will love them also when you see them!! I did use a EK Success punch that was given to me by my friend in Angel. I love it...so dainty. Hope you like my creation as much as I had creating it.

Tim Holtz 12 tags of 2014 March Tag

Hi folks I am back with my March 2014 tag for Tim Holtz 12 Tags of 2014. This month was a challenge for me. I did not have the stamps that Tim used nor the Spritzer Sprayer. The Spritzer Sprayer is on my list of wants....or can not find. I have had one of these spritzers in the past and just seen it not to long ago when I was cleaning. But, that was before the CHA release in January. My thoughts is if I can not find it then I will buy it. But, for now it is on my hold list. LOL So here is the first and second stamp technique that Tim showed us on his blog. I hope you enjoy them as much as I had fun making them. 3 months down and another 9 months to go!!

Inspired by Dave Matthews Band Journal Pages

I love Dave Matthews Band and have been wanting to do a Journal page using a quote from a song and use a fire dancer. I so love how she turned out and I used the Bohemian Bazaar Paper line!!! It worked great with this background. I had started this background you know when you use stencils and have the negative left....Yes, that is what I used for this. I thought it made it look like fire. I used my Cameo to cut out the fire dancer and the flowers. Hope you like my creation as much as I had fun creating!!!

Have a great weekend!!!

Tim Holtz 12 tags of 2014- February

This month for my Tim Holtz 12 tags of 2014 February. I decided to do 3. That way if one does not work out another one might. LOL I kinda liked them all so I will share all of them. I am trying my hardest to hang in there and do this each month. So I tried to use everything that Tim used in his tags. These are so much fun!! Each time is a different technique. And no matter how many you make they always turn out different. So, here is my tags for February. Hope you like!!!

My Blitsy Dream Room Makeover

First off I would like to introduce myself. I was the winner of the Blitsy Dream Craft Room. I won this awesome room along with my friend Angel in Louisiana. Angel called me Christmas morning as I was cooking Christmas dinner and said we won, We Won. Of course I had no idea what we had won until she told me. I was so shocked to have won this amazing prize it took me an hour to start back cooking. LOL I still find it hard to believe that we won this on Christmas Day 2013. This has been an adventure from then on. Getting exactly what Blitsy has on their set was my dream come true. They also gave me 2 short Alex from Ikea and 2 tall Alex’s. Then separating and organizing my stuff began when I knew what I was getting. Then came the furniture delivery on January 25. OMG!! Then the assembly began. What a dream that has really come true!! So, here is my tour of my room.

Here is from the door looking into my area

What you see here is my dress form with all my lace and ribbons. Also the cubes that I stenciled with Prima Marketing Flourish Stencil. I love this stencil and you can see that I used it all the way though to tie in the pattern throughout my creative space.

Here is a closer look. I used Stencil Brushes and Acrylic Black paint.

I also used the same stencil on this after painting them the Robin’s Egg Blue left over paint from the walls.

Here is a look across the room showing the Tall shelving that I received one on this side of the desk and the other one is on the other side.

Straight on view of all the shelving units together at the end of the room.

Here is where I keep my glitter in several salt and pepper shakers also my stamps in an old wire basket these are the stamps I use all the time.

In these suitcases I store my wooden stamps and extra embellishments.

Here is under the island where I store all my big tools, dies and adhesives

Here is the full shelving unit that I also received with all the drawers on the side is the short Alex where I store all my tools. Cutting Mattes, trimmers, punches and mixed media products.

Last but not least is the lamp shade I made using a doily table cloth. I used 2 floral wire wreaths. Then I stitched around to the outside to keep it in place on the top and then tacked it at the bottom. I put some handmade flowers and trim on the top and there is my lampshade. (I got the 400 watt bulbs to use in this at IKEA. They do not get hot.)

I hope you have enjoyed a tour of my Blitsy Dream Craft Room Makeover. I so love my area now and it is more than I could have ever dreamed of having!! Thanks so much Blitsy!!! You Rock!! Thanks for making my Christmas last year one that I will not ever forget!!

Hugs and keep on Crafting!!
