Fab 4 for April at Flamingo Scraps

This month’s 4 project I wanted to use as much of the products sent to me. This was extremely hard one for me. To have Maya Road Calendars, Pink Pasilee boxed letters, some Prima flower centers and a clip from Graphic 45. Wowers!!! I knew I wanted to make something with how the months roll past so quickly. So, what better way to express that on a canvas with the months flying. I used many media’s on this because I went to dark then to light….I needed to brighten it up some so threw on some purple Tattered Angels…still not bright enough…Tim Holtz Seeded Preserves Distress Paint….then some distress ink….nope…that did not do it. So I looked at my paint and thought Oh MY GOSH what am I going to do now!!! I picked the brightest turquoise I could find. And using a Stencil just started dabbing paint. I thought to myself it already looks like a dingy thing…..and it popped. Then I thought what if I outlined it with a black sharpie and that was the look I was trying to achieve in the first place. I am just thankful that Suzanne pushes us with these 4 item projects….because this one did push me to my limits!! Remember to stop by FlamingoScraps.com for all your Scrapbooking items.

Here are the 4 products sent to use...

Here is my project..

This is the poem-
“How did it get so late so soon?
It's night before it's afternoon.
December is here before it's June.
My goodness how the time has flewn.
How did it get so late so soon?”
― Dr. Seuss

Keep Calm and SCRAP on!!!

Pink Paisley Cottage Farms - Day without Mischief

On this layout I used Cottage Farms from Pink Paislee. I did not know where I wanted to go with this line since most of it has flowers. But, I picked out the ones that didn't and kept using spray and gesso to get just the right look for my little great nephew Gabriel with his two new bottom teeth. I have not done a layout of him so I figured it was about time.
For the background I used some Heidi Swapp Tinsel and Primrose and Maya Road Licorice Twist which all of them have such a rich color. I am very impressed with this spray and will be getting more of it!!! You can get all the products that I used on this project at Flamingo Scraps. Hope you like my project as much as I loved making it!!

I used the Maya Road Chipboard Hexagon the largest piece as a template for the cut out in the right hand corner of the canvas. And used some vintage sheet music to fill it in with.

The Prima Tatiana White flowers I used Spice Marmalade and Rusty Hinge and sprayed water on it and the color filled it perfect.

I used a sheet of Pink Paislee Mistables Resist 12×12 Pack thinking that it would be a cool design for the Hexagon cutout. It did not show the design that it cut out. But, I liked it because it was thick and cut really nice.

I used the Pink Paislee Cottage Farms—Paper Goods around the picture which I think made it come out pretty cool...and you get a bunch of it to use.

On this I used the Prima Junk Yard Findings...you will find these on the list at the bottom of the page.

Here I used the Pink Paislee She Art — Mask Vintage Doily with gesso just to give it a light look.

I decided to use a Camera shape from Studio Calico Wood Veneer Cameras I used the Tim Holtz Bronze Distress Paint. Then used one of the Prima Junk Yard Findings pieces for the lens and a single piece of the Maya Road Vintage Jewel Rhinestone Trim – Iridescent Diamond.

Well here is another Journal Page that I did. I am so loving all these pages and all the different techniques I can try on them. This page I used a Rubber Stamp Cafe Stamp sets that Jamie Severtson Dougherty designed. I had won these back in Feb and just now have gotten around to use them. Life seems to get in my way to much these days. But this quote I seen on a Facebook posting and Loved it and knew I needed to use it on a page. What is more wonderful then seeing the beauty in ugly things. But, life and nature is so beautiful that how can we take for granted such beautiful things?? That is my goal to start seeing the beautiful things in everything. Try to not look at the negative and always reach for the positive. So, with that being said....I sure hope you like my page that I did.

Journal pages using Prima Doll Stamp

Just thought I would share these journal pages with you....I used one of the new Prima Doll Stamps. I so love these little girls!! I used Geloto's and Tim Holtz Ranger Paint, Black Gesso and Crafter's Workshop stencil. I really liked making this and getting good and messy. I had seen from Limor Webber this Page using the Geloto's so of course I loved the color and thought that I would do my own thing with it. I also found that all thoe I do not like to write like I was told by a couple of friends to do. That I can express my feelings through Art. So, when making my Mixed Media Journaling pages...if something needs more writing on it then I will just glue 2 pages together and stuff it inside of the page. For some reason I am hooked on wings. I would put them on everything if I could. LOL OK here is my pages I hope that they will inspire you to start your own journal. Also most of my products were purchased from Flamingo Scraps.com...go over and check Suzanne's store out. She has some awesome new products there.

Prima Mixed Media Doll- Angel Ruby Canvas

I named this Canvas Angel Ruby...after my Aunt Ruby. I will hang it on the wall so my Aunt Ruby can watch over my mom. She passed away 6 years ago in December. Her and my mother was the closest out of all the siblings and talks of her often. So now Aunt Ruby will be remembered when we look at the canvas. Our Angel!!

This month’s project was so much fun and the meaning behind my creation made me feel happy when creating it!! There are so many new things to play within the Flamingo Scraps store. How could anyone not have a creative mind when looking through all the goodies they carry? I can just go there and look at what I want next. The Prima Dolls are the rage right now and one of the top sellers along with Tim Holtz Distress Paint. So, why not use both of them. I LOVE this paint!!! I wish I had gallons of it. LOL I cannot say enough about it. But, once you try it….it is unlike any other paint that I have used!! I stamped this girl in black and used clear embossing powder. I wanted her to have Patton Leather shoes. LOL I also did the same to the rest of the pieces of the doll. Just so I could get a good outline of her to fussy cut. I have added a few techniques under a couple of the pictures how I achieved the different elements on this canvas.

Background I used a Multi Medium Gel and a stencil. After that dried I then with the new Tim Holtz Distress Paint...I took and finger painted and then sprayed with water. You can find the whole set here. Tim Holtz Distress Paints Set I used the
Fired Brick, Antique Linen, Picket Fence, Black Soot for the background.
I also used some recycled packaging on the back of the girl.
I created it by embossing it and then painted the back With Distressed Paint Picket Fence. Let it dry then painted the front with Distressed Paint Black Soot. I then used a heat gun and melted the words and dried the paint. Then I took a sanding block and roughed it up so you could see the white behind it.

Best Friends with Teresa Collins Now and Then Collection

This month’s Design Team project I decided to use Teresa Collins Now and Then Collection for a layout. The picture was taken last summer when my friend Kathy from High School was home from South Carolina. We do not get to see each other much. But when she comes home we always get together. I used some of the ephemera and the words from the collection pack to different areas. This line is just so much fun to play with. The collection pack offers so many papers you could easily make 3 layouts or more from it. I did a short tutorial on how I colored the bird which is the same technique that I used for my flowers and the butterfly. I just learned not to use a heat gun thoe on the flowers, birds and butterfly's that come in this pack. Due to the glitter on them. I hope you enjoy this layout and it inspires you to create with this line. You can get these products at Flamingo Scraps. Shop Flamingo Scraps for all of your scrapbooking needs. If you do not see something in their store please drop Suzanne an email and she will try to order it for you.
